There are three options for purchasing a tune, shipping your ECU to GDE, the "exchange" option in which GDE will ship a clone ECU with tune and you send the original ECU back to GDE after testing the tuned ECU in vehicle and using the flash programmer tool to install download the tune at your leisure. The "exchange" option has a $500 core deposit that will be refunded after the original ECU is returned.

We cover the cost of shipping via USPS Express when returning tuned modules. With the "exchange" option we will include a paid USPS Priority shipping label to help expedite the return of the stock module.

After ordering a product you will need to remove the ECU from the vehicle, unless the "exchange" option was purchased. This is relatively easy as the module is located behind the battery on the driver's side of the vehicle next to the brake booster. It is attached to a bracket with two 10mm nuts. Make sure the key is not in the ignition, and then disconnect the negative terminal from the battery (10mm nut). Remove the two nuts holding the ECU bracket to the inner fender (located behind the battery against the inner fender), then disconnect the two wire harness connectors from the ECU and remove ECU and bracket from vehicle. Remove ECU from bracket using an 8 mm ratchet.

Ship the ECU to the following address and include vehicle model year and your address for the return shipment:

Green Diesel Engineering
P.O. Box 930639
Wixom, MI 48393

Make sure to include with the ECU shipment any aftermarket hardware and list if the dealer has updated your vehicle's engine cal and transmission cal. You can also provide this information on the "special instructions" inside PayPal.

We will then perform the reflash and ship the ECU back via UPS. We have a one day turnaround for performing the tune and having the ECU on its way back to you.

With the purchase of the "exchange" option all you need to provide is the vehicle VIN number and the injector codes off the engine. The injector codes are located on a white bar code affixed to the engine timing cover located on the front of the engine, just behind the mechanical fan. This is a 24 digit alpha-numeric code. If the bar code is not readable or if any injectors have been changed in the engine, the injector codes must be read off each individual injector. For this, one must remove the plastic engine cover and record the 6 digit code located on the front, top of each injector solenoid. The solenoid is the grey portion on top of each injector (the #1 injector is closest to the mechanical fan). Please call us if having issues recording these codes.

The flash programmer tool can be loaned out for a $350 core deposit or just purchased, which would allow future tunes to be installed or switching back to stock for dealer service. The flash tool also reads and clears engine fault codes, which is very handy!

If the Stage II turbo kit is purchased, you will need to ship us your ECU or we can do the "exchange". The kit will ship out with all the hardware necessary, but the ECU still needs updating to function correctly with the new turbocharger.
