GreenDieselEngineering wrote:We have not used a scangauge, but heard many stories on the LOST forum describing the same issue you mentioned. The issue is the same regardless of stock or tuned, it seems to be a function of the gateway bus (converts the CAN to J1850 or J1939)...too many protocols and it sometimes 'hiccups'. It should be fine to code scan, but you may want to do the scan right after plugging it in...as you stated it works better! Is your CEL on?

No. That is why I've not had a need to code scan.
I recently got the EcoTune for my 2005 CRD. The good news: the CRD runs noticably better and fuel economy has improved by around 20% on the highway. On a recent trip, I got a hand-calculated average of 30.1 mpg--this with a CRD with the Frankenift II for the CRD and 245/75R16 tires.

My problem is this: I plugged in my ScanGauge to check my running fuel econony, GPH, engine temperature, etc. (I don't have the EVIC). I programmed the ScanGauge for diesel (the "Diesel'a'" setting, "Diesel'b'" did not seem to read correctly), correct engine, size, fuel tank size, etc. The gauge would work correctly for awhile, then essentially freeze up. I could occasionally get to read just some parameters by unplugging the ScanGauge and replugging it, but it would frequently lock up again after awhile. Only a complete engine shutdown and restart would get the ScanGauge reading correctly again, but only for a short time. Has anyone else had this issue with the ScanGauge on an GDE-tuned CRD? I have not done a code scan with the ScanGauge for fear of causing problems in the reflashed computer.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
