Any long term updates on running no mech fan?
GreenDieselEngineering wrote:A larger turbo frameset will most likely be too big for the 2.8l engine. With the higher inertia, the lag in building low end boost will increase. No need for extra air flow at the higher rpm range as the cylinder head is flow limited above 3600rpm. A port job would help this out, but the wall thickness would be reduced too much and potentially lead to premature head cracks. With the limitation in cylinder head flow, the smaller frame turbo GT1756 provides quicker response at low rpm and more flow at higher rpm as the bearings can handle an extra 30,000rpm over the stock turbo. Thank you for the response

I am looking forward to getting your PCM, and TCM tunes, and maybe even the turbo kit.

My understanding is that the NVT3 series like you are using on the GTB1756 has more flow than the previous generations, quicker spool, and less exhaust restriction.

That's why I was thinking that going to the next size turbo but going from GTA aka VNT2 series to GTB but larger would yield about the same boost lag but more flow overall.

I'm tempted to get one and try it out to be a guinea pig LOL

Could you support such a tune?

Thanks you guys are great!
Hi everyone,
First off, Thank you for the innovative work that you have done with the CRD!

My understanding is that the factory turbo on the CRD is the GT(A)2056

And I believe that the one that you are using in your turbo kit is the GTB1756 and seems to be a great fit.

Just curious if someone could go bigger like say a GTB2260 that is being used on the VAG 3.0 TDI diesel.

Are we limited on fuel, or can the CRD not handle more torque, or what are the limiting factors?
