I have seen some scattered conversation about it on LOST, but what is up with the glowplugs in our Jeeps?

1: Did Bosch quit offering the ceramic altogether for the CRD?

2: Do they offer a metallic alternative? (Sure looks like they do.)

3: Is the existing glowplug calibration compatible with the metallic plugs?

4: Will GDE offer a calibration if Jeep does not.
I'm wondering if the MAF input has any function after the tune? If it is unused, I'm wondering what other fun things you guys could do with the available analog input...
This may be slightly off topic, but could anybody recommend a code scanner that works well with the 05 CRD? I would like something that reads and clears codes reliably and also will read the software revision level. It would be nice to stay under $200 if possible.
That sounds good. I hadn't thought about the soft shutdown being easier on the engine mounts. I'm sure they get a workout anyway. If the later valves are more reliable, maybe it is worth having after all. Thanks for the info.
Speed reading is not your friend. I'm referring to the motorized butterfly valve in the intake that the service manual calls the EGR flow control valve. It helps the EGR do its thing, and with the EGR disabled, its only remaining function is to choke the intake on engine shutdown. Not the actual EGR valve. I know you don't call it the EGR flow control valve, but that is what the service manual calls it. For me anyway, that name stuck. The tune doesn't disable it also does it? If it does, then I see what your getting at.
I would like to see the tune eliminate the CEL for an unplugged EGR flow control valve. When I'm out of warranty, I would be hard pressed to justify the expense of a valve whose only remaining function without the EGR is to give a soft shutdown.
What would it cost to have a brand new ECU programmed with the tune? In other words, a package deal of a new ECU together with the tune. I assume you folks have a good source for them? I don't think I could be without my vehicle long enough for the ECU to make the round trip. Plus, I'd like to have a spare ECU.
Is it possible to integrate a turbo timer in the tune? Seems like you would need an available digital input to the ECU.
